A US military air strike on a car has killed 8 civilians including 2 children in Baiji, north of Baghdad. Baiji’s Police Chief Colonel Mudhher al-Qaisi, told Reuters the civilians were shepherds who were in a farming area in the town when the strike took place.

Al- Qaisi said: “This is a criminal act. It will make the relations between Iraqi citizens and the US forces tense. This will negatively affect security improvements.”
Police Major Ahmed Hussein said: “There were two boys (victims), one was eight and the other was 11.”

A doctor who asked not to be named said Baiji Hospital received eight bodies including a 60-year-old man after the incident which took place early evening.
Since March 25, US air and ground raids on civilians in Baghdad have left thousands of Iraqis dead and wounded; most of them women and children.
